Moderately Sized Steps

It has been a while since the last Minute Of Arc release, even though this music was recorded between 2018 and 2022. Mostly with Renoise, as the cover indicates, but some of the processing was done in Logic. By far no giant steps, just moderately sized steps.

Knoal

“Knoal” is dedicated to Tommy van ’t Knoal, also known as “Dennis”. The black tabby Persian cat, who died last year at the age of 17, had lived with me for over ten years and was my companion ever since he came into my life. He occasionally appeared in videos and interviews and seemed to enjoy ambient music the most. The title track is the last track I recorded in his presence at Infraklang studio.

Plugged 2017

Though most of 2017 was spent recording and releasing the “Spectrum” LP under my real name, there were a few ‘plugged’ Minute Of Arc jams. Two variations of an eclectic burst of electronica, and one classic jungle session with Elektron’s Octatrack serving as a center piece to break the beats.

Kaaresta

In retrospect, “Kaaresta” has been a creative arc between two houses. Recording sounds in my studio in one house, editing them on my laptop in my girlfriend’s house. The result is a fine weave of electro and idm, braided with tight drum patterns and interlacing melodic structures.

M-32 EP

Every sound on this EP has been sourced from a pair of Moog Mother-32s, some of the melodic structures were generated using their internal sequencers, or in conjunction with the Koma Komplex Sequencer. Processing included, but was not limited to, granular re-synthesis and aleatoric composition.

Transformational Content

“Transformational Content”, the second Minute Of Arc album. An album that took a full year to complete, and another three to release. Musically, it floats within the realm of electro, but technically, the tracks originate from studio sessions that cross between various electronic styles. There is no apparent reason for the delayed release. However, from my point of view it is interesting to see how the MOA sound is evolving over time and that these tracks are still holding up.

Plugged 2015

This EP is a collection of ‘plugged’ songs I recorded live in my studio in 2015. Each song was recorded in one take and was documented on video for my YouTube channel (youtube.com/user/maskineri). Two of the songs were dissected for further processing and arranging, and will be released on the next full length Minute Of Arc album.

Made Of Amber

A transcendental electronic music experience that has a coherence with idm, electro, and contains some elements of early jungle music. But all tracks have a common divisor, they are all ‘made of amber’.

These tracks have been meticulously arranged and produced in order to make the best music I can, without musical constraints or boundaries defined by genres. The recording process took nine months in total, weeks were spent on tweaking and adjusting a song until it sounded finished to me. Each song had to have a perpetual momentum, a certain energy from start to finish. This dedication to sound and arrangement has led to a style of producing that suited me really well, being somewhat of a perfectionist and attentive to details, I was able to put all of my creative energy into this album.
