Lifecrushed Podcast

Recently I was asked to record a podcast for the Lifecrushed mix series. It turned out in a 77 minute mix of exclusively Ohrwert material featuring some of my latest releases, as well as releases of the past few years.


A constant thumping, Ohrwert’s mix summons a thick, nebulous fog – the snares and high-hats serving as brief glimmers of lucidness. It’s an hour of deep rumination, with a consistent theme and ambience making time hurtle by. A set to help you mull something over.

Technologue

Thirteenth Reduct

The thirteenth “Reduct”, a series that has started in 2008 and is, despite a long hiatus until early 2018, still my outlet for contemporary work in the realm of dub. “Antumbra” came to be whilst preparing for my show at Yaga in Lithuania last summer, resulting in an acidious dub house track with a cosmic flair. “Penumbra” is its technoid counter with a faster rhythm and deeper groove.

Yaga 2018

This years’ Yaga Gathering will host a Greyscale label showcase at the chill-out stage including performances of grad_u, Sraunus, Gradient, and myself. The festival takes place in the woods at Spengla, Lithuania from August 9-13.

Ritual

This three-track EP is once again a change of pace from my recent output. Actually, it is a more experimental approach of the same pace. The three compositions are abstract by nature, but grounded by raw rhythmical structures. Even though the recordings originate from my hardware equipment, they have been processed extensively beyond recognition and set the scene for a surreal aural experience.

Includes the full 20-minute version of “Rituel Artificiel I” and the drone versions of all three compositions as bonus tracks.

Twelfth Reduct

Since the start of this year I try to release something every first of the month through various projects. Five months in, it is time for another Ohrwert EP. “Twelfth Reduct” takes a cosmic spin with two brand new recordings, partly inspired by my sequential music released as Arjen Schat.
